Grass Valley lanzó recientemente la versión 8 de su sistema de edición Edius Pro, que permite trabajar en tiempo real con formatos SD, HD e incluso 4K (esto último siempre teniendo en cuenta las posibilidades de los ordenadores).

En esta actualización se ha mejorado sobretodo el flujo de trabajo en 4K, añadiendo soporte para Deck Link 4K Extreme y Ultra Studio 4K (ambos de Blackmagic Design), así como para AJA KONA 3G.

Otra de las grandes novedades es la posibilidad de compartir EDLs y AAFs con DaVinci Resolve, tanto importándolas como exportándolas a través de Grass Valley HQX.

Estas son las características principales de Edius Pro 8:

  • Nuevos soportes: Sony XAVC (Intra/Long GOP) y XAVC S, Panasonic AVC-Ultra y AVC Intra 4K 422, así como Canon XF-AVC (sólo para importación).
  • Edición más rápida con AVCHD.
  • Mejorada la codificación y decodificación de MPEG, H.264/AVC, especialmente para 4K XAVC.
  • Edición de resoluciones diferentes (desde 24×24 hasta 4Kx2K) en un mismo timeline.
  • Edición multicámara con hasta 16 entradas y soporte para salida de vídeo.
  • Edición en s3D.
  • Manejo rápido de imágenes fijas (JPG, TGA, DPX, etc.)
  • Exportación directa del timeline a un DVD o Blu-ray.
  • Interfaz de usuario mejorada, con pistas ilimitadas de vídeo, audio, títulos y gráficos.
  • Optimización para la arquitectura Intel Core, con procesamiento nativo a 64-bit.

Además, en actualizaciones futuras tienen pensado meter herramientas de tracking, soporte de RAW, Log y LUTs y background render.

La licencia de Edius Pro 8 es permanente, no está acogida al modelo de suscripción, y todas las actualizaciones de Edius 8.x serán gratuitas. Grass Valley recently launched version 8 of its Edius Pro editing system, which allows working in real time with SD, HD and even 4K formats (the latter always taking into account the possibilities of computers).

This update has improved the 4K workflow in particular, adding support for Deck Link 4K Extreme and Ultra Studio 4K (both from Blackmagic Design), as well as AJA KONA 3G.
